He is also interested in measuring and potentially off-setting any current carbon footprint. In 2024 J A Russell introduced cable drum recycling which is a great step forward

Forbes Homemade Gourmet own a number of catering businesses across Auckland and practice good sustainable processes. Ferntinental Cafe was the subject of this survey however have subsequently been forced to close.

Overall, NZ Sign Solutions are taking a number of great actions already with only a few in their control right now they could consider. The big issues for them, they would love to find solutions but currently don’t know any options. It is not through lack of not wanting to take action and make a difference.

The Hope Shop are a very small store so good for us to use as a comparison, they currently have good practices particularly re labeling of clothing but this sort of action is impractical for larger scale action.

Bronz are part of the Sustainable Salons programme and therefore already very proactive about taking climate change action but are also keen to uptake much more in their endeavours.

GJ Gardner Rodney East, based in Orewa, were happy to be part of the pilot Green Scheme survey. However, they feel they do as much as it practical at this stage but are very aware that this is not enough and there needs to be both behavorial and attitude changes in the industry.

Coast Lab began their sustainability journey on day one but joined the Green Scheme to troubleshoot a few barriers and learn about what other actions they could take.

Hair Scene is not a member of Sustainable Salons however they are an example of a local business who works hard on their carbon footprint and should be acknowledged and championed for the amazing number of actions they are taking.

Avenue Hair are a member of Sustainable Salons and divert a whopping 80% of their waste from landfill.

The Cat’s Pyjamas is a small Op Shop who do what they can but are very much limited by funds. They are keen to do everything they can and already take some great actions. They are keen to take what actions they can.

North Harbour Law felt they do a few things but not enough and were keen to be given more information. They do already do a number of good things but there are a few areas where there could be options to take more actions and they were keen to explore some of these.

Second Hand stores as an industry divert a lot of waste from landfill but often also end up with a lot of waste from others and spend huge amounts on landfill fees. A few of the actions that the Salvation Army team discussed with the Green Scheme team were exploring textile recycling options and using other methods like staples to replace the plastic swing tags on clothing items.
