Whangaparaoa Lodge is a Whangaparaoa based accommodation business that goes the extra mile already in their efforts to reduce their carbon footprint. They are a very keen participant in the Green Scheme and, whilst they already take many actions, big and small, they are keen to continue to seek ways to help in their Green Scheme efforts.
Clean Energy - Use Meridian
Collaborating locally - Recommend Coffee Lady across road and get discount if guests take their coffee mugs from their rooms
Conscious cleaning - We use non-toxic, natural ingredient based or grey water safe cleaning products
Eco committed staff - Have poster up for staff and provide eco info, make sure they use eco friendly products
Low Carbon Transport - Public transport is encouraged and facilitated (e.g. flexible work hours to accomodate public transport)
Low Impact Packaging - don't do refills of eg shampoo bottles but provide eco friendly sticks - ecosticks body wash, shampoo and moisturiser and also raseberry jam and citrus marmalade all in recyclable or glass packaging
Recycling Champion - Staff has had training on identifying recyclable material, Site has posters onsite to remind staff and customers about separating recycling, We use council / kerbside recycling, Recycling is taken to a local recycling centre, Use commercial waste providers for waste, recycling and/or organics,
Reducing Power - Lights are LED or low usage bulbs, New appliances have at least 3/5 star energy ratings, Staff are incentivised or encouraged to reduce power consumption, Uses Meridian
Reducing Single Use - Room china mugs for takeaway coffees, use a sanitizing powder
Responsible paper use - Staff contracts are digitised as a standard and not printed, Client contracts are digitised as a standard and not printed, Recycleable paper napkins or other, Digitised systems for customer receipts etc (send by email)
Reuse champion - glass bottles fill and chill in each room
Water refill - glass bottles fill and chill in each room
